Frenches on RMS Lusitania

Edward Stanley French

Edward was a fireman on board the ship, unfortunately he did not survive the sinking. He was born in 1879 at Kirkdale in Liverpool. He was the son of Edward and the late Mrs. French; husband of Elizabeth French (nee Turner), of 23, Philip St., Linacre, Lancs. His life is celebrated by the Commonwealth War Graves Commission Debt Of Honour, Tower Hill Memorial.

Interestingly there was another Edward Stanley French, born in Bootle in 1892. He was later awarded the Mercantile Marine Medal.

Grace Hope French

Grace French (1890 – 1986), 24, was a dressmaker and milliner from Scotland. She originally booked passage on Cameronia before she was transferred to Lusitania. She survived the disaster and died in 1986.

Her life is fully documented on the Lusitania Resource website.
